On the 3rd of March 2010  my supervisor Dr. Ben Croxford and I went to see the house in Hawthorn Road. All the houses on the road look pretty much the same but this one is recognisable by a “little detail”: also from the outside you can see the results of the fire that burnt the house.

The house hasn’t been occupied for a while so it’s now in quite bad conditions

These are the current entrances to the two flats

Back elevation overlooking the gardens. “Our” house is the one on the left of the picture

Floor boards removed to show the under floor cavity (ground floor flat)

Part of the first floor upstairs is missing

Walls in the burnt room with “shadows” of what was hung on the wall when the fire spread
